Eight-Year-Old Charly Bisset, Who Fought Leukaemia with Unshakable Courage, Travels Hundreds of Miles Through Pain and Fear to See Her Hero Lewis Capaldi — A Brave Girl’s Dream Finally Comes True in the Most Unforgettable Night of Her Life
A young fan has described a trip to meet her pop idol Lewis Capaldi and see him perform live as “the best night of her life.”

Thrilled schoolgirl Charly Bisset got to chat to her hero for 20 minutes before watching him take to the stage in front of thousands at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro.
A year ago, courageous Charly was battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia when she received a surprise video call from Lewis himself. One minute, the eight-year-old was singing along to his No. 1 hit “Someone You Loved,” and the next, she was being serenaded by the singer through her phone.
The BRIT Award winner promised Charly tickets for his SSE Hydro gig on March 5 and followed up by calling her family at home to invite them personally to the show.
Her dad, Mark, said: “Lewis kept his word after the initial video call when he promised to get her to his show and meet him in person. It was Monique, a nurse who looked after Charly, who started it all off, as she is a close childhood friend of Lewis. My wife Kirsty got a call from Lewis and his manager to invite us up that night. It was a moment we’ll never forget. Charly got so excited she couldn’t breathe and we had to calm her down. Her older sisters were in complete hysteria.”

The family traveled to Glasgow, parked in the backstage car park, and were escorted into the green room to wait for their special meet-and-greet.
“Two minutes later, he burst through the door shouting, ‘Hello!’” Mark recalled. “He stayed talking with Charly for about 20 minutes and then posed for photos with the family. He was asking Charly how she was getting on with her treatment and what’s been happening since he last spoke to her.”
After receiving a bag full of merchandise goodies, Charly and her family were escorted to their seats in the 14,300-capacity arena.
Mark added: “Charly said it was the best night of her life. She loved every minute of it and lost her voice singing along with every song. We can’t thank Lewis, his manager, and the rest of the team enough for making Charly feel so special. And after the year she has had, she well and truly deserved it.”
Charly couldn’t stop smiling as she remembered their time together. She said: “Lewis was very funny and made me feel relaxed from the very beginning because I was nervous about meeting him. But he’s just a normal person like us.”
During the sell-out show, Rangers-daft Charly was seated next to Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths, adding an extra thrill to an already magical night.
And as the final touch to an evening that will stay with her forever, Lewis took a moment mid-show to dedicate “Someone You Loved” — the same song that brought them together — to Charly. The entire arena fell silent as his voice soared through the crowd, every lyric carrying weight and warmth. Charly’s eyes glistened as she sang along, clutching her concert ticket tight. Her parents stood beside her, tears streaming down their faces. For a few unforgettable minutes, it wasn’t just a concert — it was a story of hope, healing, and the unbreakable bond between a little girl who fought with courage and the artist who helped her believe in miracles.
Charly is now free from leukaemia following a successful bone marrow transplant but will continue two more years of follow-up treatment. That night with Lewis Capaldi wasn’t just a wish come true — it was a celebration of life.
