German actor\u00a0Udo Kier<\/strong>, known for\u00a0Blood for Dracula<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0My Own Private Idaho<\/em>, has died at\u00a081<\/strong>. His partner,\u00a0Delbert McBride<\/strong>, confirmed he passed away Sunday in Palm Springs, though no cause of death has been shared. Photographer\u00a0Michael Childers<\/strong>\u00a0announced the news on Facebook, calling it a heartbreaking loss.<\/p>\n

Kier appeared in\u00a0over 250 films<\/strong>\u00a0across Hollywood and Europe. He rose to fame in the 1970s with Paul Morrissey\u2019s\u00a0Flesh for Frankenstein<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Blood for Dracula<\/em>, and later worked extensively with directors\u00a0Rainer Werner Fassbinder<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Lars von Trier<\/strong>, appearing in films like\u00a0Europa<\/em>,\u00a0Dogville<\/em>, and\u00a0Melancholia<\/em>.<\/p>\n

His American breakthrough came with\u00a0Gus Van Sant\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0My Own Private Idaho<\/em>\u00a0in 1991. Kier went on to memorable roles in\u00a0Ace Ventura: Pet Detective<\/em>,\u00a0Armageddon<\/em>, and\u00a0Blade<\/em>, and made appearances in Madonna\u2019s\u00a0Sex<\/em>\u00a0book and several music videos, as well as Korn\u2019s \u201cMake Me Bad.\u201d<\/p>\n

Born\u00a0Udo Kierspe<\/strong>\u00a0in Cologne in 1944, he moved to London at 18 and began his long career, later earning awards such as the CineMerit and Artistic Achievement honors.<\/p>\n
