After a career which spanned six decades, legendary actor and comedian Steve Martin was ready to call it quits. What followed was a stage show, a new book, and plenty more projects, but this time, he is truly winding his career down.This incredibly versatile man became a household name when he joined the cast of \u201cSaturday Night Live.\u201d His immense acting talent and his wit took his career to a whole new level and he became a familiar face on our screens, bringing laughter to millions of fans.Martin has plenty of awards under his belt and the list of films he played in throughout the course of his career is relatively long.<\/div>\n

Among the rest, he\u2019s known for classics such as \u2018Pink Panther\u2019, \u2018Cheaper by the Dozen\u2019, and \u2018Father of the Bride,\u2019 among the rest.As most people tend to retire when they reach the age of sixty-something, Martin didn\u2019t only do projects and films at that age, but he also became a father for the first time ever when he and wife Anne Stringfield welcomed a daughter in 2012. At the time, Martin was 67.Speaking of the decision to pack up his career, Martin said, \u201cThere\u2019s a time in your career when people are dying to see you\u2026 Now is the time in my career when I\u2019m the one who\u2019s got to show up.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

When it comes to his show Only Murders in the Building,\u00a0<\/em>Martin created alongside John Hoffman, starring Martin himself, singer-actress Selena Gomez, and Martin Short, the 77-year-old comedian told\u00a0Variety<\/em>, \u201cI\u2019m very happy with my character not growing. They always say, \u2018What\u2019s the arc of the character? What does he learn?\u2019 Once you get to 75, there\u2019s not a lot left to learn, there\u2019s only more mistakes. So I don\u2019t worry about those things. [It\u2019s about] being true to the character. If Marty Short is true to Oliver, and I\u2019m true to Charles, then we can\u2019t go wrong. They\u2019re real people.\u201dHe then added, \u201cWhen this television show is done, I\u2019m not going to seek others. I\u2019m not going to seek other movies. I don\u2019t want to do cameos.
