Her publicist confirmed she likely died of natural causes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-14077\" src=\"https:\/\/currentnews-foryou.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/image-50.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Swit and Alan Alda were the longest-serving cast members of\u00a0<em>M<\/em>A<em>S<\/em>H*, which ran from 1972 to 1983. Over 11 seasons, Swit helped shape the show\u2019s deeper themes, including PTSD, sexism, and racism. She pushed to evolve her character from a one-dimensional stereotype into a strong, complex woman \u2014 and insisted on being called \u201cMargaret,\u201d not \u201cHot Lips.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Born in Passaic, New Jersey, to Polish immigrant parents, Swit studied acting and worked in theater before moving to TV in the late 1960s.
