It\u2019s hard to believe that Prince William and Kate Middleton have been married for more than a decade. The couple\u2019s royal wedding was naturally grand, and years later, William got to see his brother, Prince Harry, tie the knot with Meghan Markle.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The two siblings were once the greatest of friends, but we all know things have soured in recent years. It\u2019s even said that Harry and Meghan\u2019s marriage caused a lot of friction between the former and the future king.<\/p>\n

The wedding of Harry and Meghan was unique for many reasons. Firstly, there was the fact that it was a former TV star from the US who was set to join the Royal Family. And remember how King Charles (then Prince Charles) walked Meghan down the aisle? It was a day to remember, that much is sure.<\/p>\n

And yet for Prince William it reportedly wasn\u2019t a day filled only with joy. A new bombshell claim reveals he was concerned over Meghan\u2019s wedding attire, relating to Princess Diana.<\/p>\n

Prince William and Kate Middleton\u2019s love story dates back to their university days. In 2011, the couple tied the knot at Westminster Abbey: the future king had found his queen.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Prince William & Meghan Markle \u2013\u00a0relationship<\/h2>\n

At that point, neither William, Kate, nor Prince Harry knew what the future would hold, or who Harry would meet just a few years later.<\/p>\n

Harry met Meghan Markle for a blind date in 2016, and it didn\u2019t take long before she was introduced to his family. The fact that Meghan and\u00a0Kate Middleton<\/a>\u00a0didn\u2019t have the best relationship has been well-documented. It\u2019s also been claimed that Prince William and the Duchess had issues forming a good relationship, though they\u2019re said to have gotten along well in the beginning.<\/p>\n

In their book\u00a0Finding Freedom<\/em>, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand revealed many things about William and Meghan\u2019s relationship.<\/p>\n

Scobie and Durand claimed that before William and Meghan\u2019s first meeting, the\u00a0Suits<\/em>\u00a0star was \u201cself-aware enough\u201d to understand that both\u00a0the future king<\/a>\u00a0and his brother were \u201cwary of women who were more interested in their titles than their well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n

Therefore, Meghan pictured her first meeting with William as being a \u201cgrilling.\u201d However, that\u2019s not how it turned out.<\/p>\n

\u201cWilliam first said to her, \u2018I was looking forward to meeting the girl who has put that silly grin on my brother\u2019s face,’\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the authors wrote.<\/p>\n

William could see that his brother had found\u00a0the one<\/em>. Sadly, Meghan was subjected to harsh treatment and harassment from the press, forcing Harry to release a statement in November 2016 \u2014less than a year after they had begun dating\u2014 outlining in no uncertain terms that it was unacceptable.<\/p>\n

\u201cTake as much time as you need to get to know this girl\u201d<\/h2>\n

At the time, Prince William supported his brother and Meghan, releasing his own statement shortly after. Yet while the future king showed public support for Harry and Meghan, he simultaneously \u201cprivately voiced concerns,\u201d according to Scobie and Durand.<\/p>\n

He was said to be worried that Harry\u2019s relationship with Meghan was developing too fast. The authors wrote that William even discussed this with his brother, telling him: \u201cDon\u2019t fell you need to rush this\u201d and, \u201cTake as much time as you need to get to know this girl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scobie and Durand continued by saying that Harry was \u201cpissed off\u201d that William even asked him to take it slow, while the phrase \u201cthe girl\u201d bothered him.<\/p>\n

Harry had little time to get Meghan up to speed with how things worked in the royal sphere. For example, the\u00a0Suits<\/em>\u00a0actress didn\u2019t know how to curtsy to Queen Elizabeth II in private, and even though the family welcomed her, Meghan felt isolated.<\/p>\n

In the now-infamous Oprah Winfrey interview from 2021, Meghan explained that she \u201cdidn\u2019t fully understand\u201d the job.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no way to understand what the day to day was going to be like,\u201d she said at the time.<\/p>\n

For Harry, things quickly grew frustrating. In a 2022 interview with\u00a0Fox<\/a>, royal expert and author Katie Nicholl, who had just released\u00a0The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth\u2019s Legacy and the Future of the Crown<\/em>, explained that the Duke felt Prince William and Kate Middleton hadn\u2019t done their part in helping Meghan settle in.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was certainly Harry\u2019s feeling that William and Kate hadn\u2019t rolled out the red carpet as much as they might have done,\u201d Nicholl said. \u201cYou know, there wasn\u2019t this sort of instant welcoming of Meghan into the royal fold.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prince Harry & Meghan Markle \u2013 wedding<\/h2>\n

\u201cI say in the book that William was the first to meet Meghan. And actually, he was really thrilled that Harry had met someone who he\u2019d really fallen for. He was overjoyed when Meghan came into his life, and he fell in love with this woman,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Moreover, a friend of Harry\u2019s told Nicholl: \u201cHarry felt William wasn\u2019t rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so. They had a bit of a fallout, which was only resolved when Charles stepped in and asked William to make an effort.\u201d<\/p>\n

No matter what had happened though, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were deeply in love. In November 2017, the couple announced that they had gotten engaged, and in 2018 they tied the knot in St. George\u2019s Chapel at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n

As with any royal wedding, the Duke and Duchess of Susses were celebrated with a huge, costly ceremony. But Meghan\u2019s weeks leading up to the grand day were quite stressful.<\/p>\n

Days before the ceremony, the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0revealed that her father, Thomas Markle, had coordinated with a paparazzi photographer to stage several photos, including one where he was getting fitted for a suit before the wedding, one where he was seen reading a book about Britain, and another as he surveyed pictures of Meghan and Harry.<\/p>\n

The pictures reportedly sold for over \u00a3100,000 ($137,000). Meghan was furious.<\/p>\n

Thomas then initially lied to Meghan and Harry, saying that he hadn\u2019t been involved in the staging of the photos. Ultimately, he claimed he was too embarrassed to attend the wedding, and suffered from subsequent heart troubles.<\/p>\n

Why King Charles led Meghan Markle down the aisle<\/h2>\n

Harry and Meghan had told him explicitly not to speak to the media before their union, but Thomas didn\u2019t listen. In the end, Meghan stated that her father would not be in attendance because he had undergone heart surgery.<\/p>\n

As her father wasn\u2019t in attendance, he couldn\u2019t lead Meghan down the aisle. That\u2019s when then-Prince Charles stepped up.<\/p>\n

According to royal biographer Robert Hardman, Charles asked Meghan if she wanted him to escort her down the aisle. In his book\u00a0Queen of Our Times: The Life of Elizabeth II,<\/em>\u00a0Hardman wrote that Charles got a quick answer, but it wasn\u2019t what he expected.<\/p>\n

Meghan surprised the now-king, asking him to meet her halfway down the aisle. She wanted to make her big entrance into the chapel on her own.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeeling for his future daughter-in-law, the Prince of Wales offered to step in, saying he would be honored to escort Meghan up the aisle of St George\u2019s Chapel to the altar. The reply, according to one friend, was not quite what he was expecting: \u2018Can we meet halfway?’\u201d Hardman wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere was an indicator that this was no blushing bride, but a confident, independent woman determined to make a grand entrance on her own.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2018, in the BBC documentary\u00a0Prince, Son, a<\/em>nd\u00a0Heir<\/em>, Harry spoke about his father, Charles, offering to walk his wife down the aisle. Harry initially said he had asked his father about it, and Charles immediately agreed.<\/p>\n

Prince William had concerns over Meghan Markle\u2019s wedding outfit<\/h2>\n

\u201cI asked him to and I think he knew it was coming, and he immediately said, \u2018Yes, of course, I\u2019ll do whatever Meghan needs and I\u2019m here to support you.’\u201d Harry recalled. \u201cFor him, that\u2019s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know, he\u2019s our father, so of course, he\u2019s going to be there for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry proposed to Meghan with a custom three-stone ring. It featured diamonds from his late mother,\u00a0Princess Diana\u2019s jewelry collection<\/a>. However, one year later, for the wedding, the fact that Meghan had already worn something from Diana\u2019s jewelry collection left one person concerned: Prince William.<\/p>\n

In his book,\u00a0Spare<\/em>, Harry recalled tensions between him and his brother when he and Meghan were planning the wedding. Moreover, in\u00a0Catherine, The Princess of Wales: The Biography<\/em>, author Robert Jobson claimed that the relationship between Harry and William had deteriorated, and even though William had been confirmed as the best man, the bond between them had \u201cworsened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prince William was allegedly not the only one in the Royal Family who felt Harry and Meghan\u2019s relationship had developed too fast. William, it\u2019s said, decided to reach out to his grandmother to ask for a very special assurance.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite sharp digs and thin skins on both sides, the wedding at Windsor in May 2018 was a spectacular success,\u201d Jobson continued. \u201cIn public, the\u00a0Royal Family\u00a0were all smiles, though privately they were at daggers drawn.\u201d<\/p>\n

As we all know, the relationship between the Sussexes and the Waleses is far from great today. Harry and William don\u2019t even speak to each other, and it\u2019s safe to assume the same goes for William and Meghan.<\/p>\n

The Duke and Duchess have focused on their business ventures in the US, but could soon get company across the pond.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0OK!<\/a>, Prince William and Kate Middleton have taken the first steps towards launching themselves in the United States. The Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly have submitted an official document to the United States Patent and Trademark Office as they aim to establish their Royal Foundation charity in the US.<\/p>\n

According to documents seen by the news outlet, in May 2023, William and Kate initially bid to land a trademark \u2013 and Meghan isn\u2019t happy.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeghan was quite shocked when she found out that Kate and William plan to do more work in America after trademarking their foundation\u2019s brand with authorities,\u201d the source told OK!.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt just feels like another blow,\u201d<\/h2>\n

\u201cAlthough they have made a couple of trips to the US, it\u2019s not really part of their territory, and now Meghan feels they could be moving in on her turf.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the source, the Prince and Princess of Wales\u2019s inclusion of \u201chealthcare services relating to mental health\u201d in their trademark application could lead to a \u2018turf war\u2019 with the Sussexes.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor Meghan, it just feels like another blow, as Harry is making more of a life for himself in America and doing big events without her, like the one he did in New York last week,\u201d the insider told\u00a0OK!<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd she already knows how popular Kate and William are in the US and with their own\u00a0Hollywood\u00a0popularity seemingly dwindling, she doesn\u2019t feel comfortable with them making any trips across the pond right now because they will no doubt be a huge fanfare.\u201d<\/p>\n
