Trisha Yearwood is a beloved country music singer who has captivated thousands of fans with her music.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, there is one thing the star does not have. She has found a way to fill that space in her life.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trisha is in a happy marriage with her fellow country music star, Garth Brooks. While they have not had any children together, she has taken on the role of an additional mother figure to her husband\u2019s three children.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Garth Brooks was married to Sandy Mahl on May 24, 1986, and the couple spent over 15 years together. They met in a bar near the campus of Oklahoma State University, the college they both attended. Brooks was acting as a bouncer at the bar, and he was introduced to Mahl when breaking up a fight she was involved in.<\/p>\n

In 2001, Brooks and Mahl decided to separate. The parents of three claimed that Brooks\u2019 busy career was to blame for the divorce. Mahl explained that her former husband would often be gone for eight to ten weeks at a time, and then would be overrun with various shows, parties, award ceremonies, and other events that kept him away from home.<\/p>\n

Despite the divorce and distance between the former couple, they remain good friends. Brooks even labels Mahl as \u201cphenomenal\u201d in his documentary, \u201cThe Road I\u2019m On.\u201d As recently as 2019, the star told\u00a0US Weekly,<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat really surprised me was Sandy, the girls\u2019 mom. She was phenomenal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooks has acknowledged that his absence during their marriage likely meant that he missed a lot that Mahl was trying to tell him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s rare you get to hear the other side. I just saw her, and I think I hugged her harder than I ever have now that I know things that either I didn\u2019t hear or that she didn\u2019t say until now,\u201d\u00a0\u00a0he continued in his US Weekly\u00a0interview.<\/p>\n

The two have been able to continue to work together to raise their three daughters, Taylor, August, and Allie. Brooks revealed that the former couple still makes it a point to see the three girls in the mornings and evenings with no exceptions.<\/p>\n

The country star\u2019s philosophy seems to be that doing right by the children is how they do right for themselves.<\/p>\n

In 2005, Garth Brooks married country singer Trisha Yearwood, a fellow star whom he has known since 1987. The pair met while recording a demo.<\/p>\n

In Brooks\u2019 documentary, Mahl and her three daughters confirmed that they accepted Yearwood in their lives. The country singer\u2019s first wife revealed that she even thought Brooks\u2019 marriage to Yearwood was beneficial for the children.<\/p>\n

As revealed in her Good Housekeeping\u00a0interview,\u00a0Mahl told Brooks,<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this is a really good move for you, and I think this is a really good move for our children.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooks\u2019 three daughters have only ever shown excitement towards their stepmother. The eldest, Taylor, has joked that Yearwood\u2019s presence has improved the food in their father\u2019s hoSuse.<\/p>\n

As for the \u201cI Need You\u201d singer, Yearwood has admitted her new caretaker role took some getting used to.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you don\u2019t have children, you have the luxury of being selfish because it\u2019s just about you. You don\u2019t have to think about somebody else first,\u201d she\u00a0shared.<\/p>\n

Since getting to know the three girls, she has embraced her new role. Even with their closeness, Yearwood prefers being called \u201cbonus mom\u201d to being called \u201cstepmom\u201d to avoid negative connotations. She\u00a0told\u00a0SheKnows:<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I think stepmom, I think Cinderella, you know, so I always prefer bonus mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yearwood now thinks of the three girls in her care as a\u00a0gift\u00a0that she never knew she needed. It was Brooks that gave her the advice she claims to have helped her the most.<\/p>\n

Her husband explained to her that she should not go into her budding relationship with the girls as a best friend or mom, but let the relationship build naturally with each of them.<\/p>\n

While her relationship with the girls has remained smooth, Yearwood has also explained that she and Brooks have overcome typical and nontypical issues in their marriage.<\/p>\n

With both singers being successful country stars and independent people, they sometimes butt heads. During the COVID-19 quarantine, they were forced to deal with these issues head-on. Yearwood\u00a0told\u00a0US Weekly:<\/p>\n

\u201cSo in this situation, that\u2019s not an option because this is the love of my life, you know? So you sit down, and you talk it through and, and that gets you better when you get to the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n

With these communication skills and the now adult children in the picture, it is clear that Brooks and Yearwood will have many more successful years ahead of them in their marriage.<\/p>\n

Trisha Yearwood weight loss<\/h2>\n

In addition to her emotional family situation, Trisha Yearwood\u2019s relationship with weight loss also been roller coaster, with her embarking on her first diet at the tender age of 15.<\/p>\n

Trisha had always embraced her love for Southern cuisine with all her heart \u2013 and she once shared that she comes from a family with a genetic and habitual inclination towards being overweight.<\/p>\n

Despite her determined efforts, she has explored numerous weight loss programs over the years, but lasting success has remained elusive.<\/p>\n

\u201dI decided to lose weight when I was 15,\u201d she told\u00a0Good Housekeeping\u00a0in 2013 and added:<\/p>\n

\u201dI did Scarsdale. I did Weight Watchers. I did Atkins. I was like, \u2018I can eat bacon and cheese every day!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

After years of yo-yo dieting, Trisha finally had enough in 2012. The turning point was a trip to Haiti with Habitat for Humanity.<\/p>\n

\u201dI really felt my weight on that trip. I\u2019d put a few extra pounds on top of the 20 extra that I always carried. I didn\u2019t feel great.\u201d<\/p>\n

She changed her dietary and exercise routines, resulting in a remarkable achievement of shedding 30 pounds within a year. For example, she took Rumba classes three times a week and went from size 14 to a size 10.<\/p>\n

\u201cI designed my own plan that\u2019s low-fat, low-sugar 90 percent of the time,\u201d Trisha told\u00a0People.<\/p>\n

During the April 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards, the country star unveiled her astonishing makeover, leaving the audience in awe. Yet, above all, the entire journey left Trisha Yearwood feeling significantly improved and more at ease with herself.<\/p>\n

And in 2023, Trisha once again stunned in a leopard print dress at the 2023 ACM Awards. It seems like she continues to lead a healthy lifestyle and savor the joys of life \u2013 it\u2019s wonderful to witness Trisha thriving!<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been blessed to live a lot of dreams,\u201d the Georgia native told Good Housekeeping.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut finally looking the way I want, feeling better than I ever knew I could and wearing a tucked-in shirt with a black leather skirt \u2014 that is way,\u00a0way\u00a0up there.\u201d<\/p>\n
