He was 78.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>His agent Jackie Gill said Goodman \u201cpassed away peacefully\u201d Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLen died on Saturday evening surrounded by his family in a hospice in Kent. He has bone cancer. He kept his sense of humour throughout his illness and was a \u2018true gentleman,\u2019\u201d his manager said in a statement Monday, according to Good Morning America.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div id=\"M900103ScriptRootC1523709_07a50\">\n<div id=\"MarketGidComposite1523709_07a50\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"mgbox\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-124957\" src=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/04\/len-goodman-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"950\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After 31 seasons as head judge on DWTS, Goodman stepped down in November 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been with the show since it started in 2005 and it has been a huge pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful show,\u201d he said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>He added he was looking forward to spending more time with his family \u201cback in Britain.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-3\">\n<div id=\"M900103ScriptRootC1524761_060f6\">\n<div id=\"MarketGidComposite1524761_060f6\">\n<div>\n<div class=\"mgbox\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><ins class=\"adsbyadop_2a4d5f5b-3f21-458e-8bad-4b5b1c1aa44b\"><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/ins><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-124959\" src=\"https:\/\/en.newsner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/11\/2023\/04\/len-goodman-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"960\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The former professional ballroom dancer and British champion is credited with reviving interest in ballroom dancing on both sides of the Atlantic.<\/p>\n<p>He starred as the head judge on Strictly Come Dancing for 12 seasons after it premiered on the BBC in 2004 before moving to the US\u2019 version, DWTS, where he served as head judge until his retirement in November 2022.<\/p>\n<p>View this post on Instagram<\/p>\n<p>A post shared by Dancing With The Stars #DWTS (@dancingwiththestars)<\/p>\n<p>Following the announcement of his death many connected to each dancing competition relayed their heartfelt condolences.<\/p>\n<p>Carrie Ann Inaba, fellow judge, called Goodman, \u201cA Dancer. A teacher. A refined gentleman. A wonderful storyteller. A special soul. A mentor. A family man. And\u2026 A treasured friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaying goodbye at the end of last season broke my heart. But today\u2019s news has shattered it all over again. I can\u2019t believe that you\u2019re gone,\u201d she added in the caption of a video montage shared on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>View this post on Instagram<\/p>\n<p>A post shared by Carrie Ann Inaba (@carrieanninaba)<\/p>\n<p>Kym Johnson-Herjavec, who appeared on the show as a professional dancer from 2006 \u2013 2015, also expressed her sadness over the loss of a \u201cclass act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHeavens gates are covered in 10 paddles and mirror balls today. Nothing made you feel better than getting a 10 from Len. He was a class act with a cheeky grin and quick wit. You will be so missed.
