Captain Ian Farquhar, who was a close friend of the king, has died. He was 78 years old.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n

Ian had known the King and Queen Camilla for a long time. He had also been a rider for the Queen Mother.<\/p>\n

Besides being a great hunter and horseman, he was also in the Queen\u2019s Own Hussars.<\/p>\n

Now the King has to deal with yet another blow, since he already has cancer. Lord Rothschild passed away last week. He was 87 years old.<\/p>\n

Rose Farquhar, Ian\u2019s daughter, was with Prince William during his gap year in 2000. They had sweet picnics in the countryside of Gloucestershire.\"\"<\/p>\n

Ian had been renting a farmhouse on the Gloucestershire estate of King\u2019s Highgrove for a long time.<\/p>\n

King Charles II\u2019s first husband, Stephen Parker Bowles, told the Daily Mail that Ian had been very sick.<\/p>\n

Andy told them early Wednesday morning that Ian had died at Highgrove.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs wild as a hawk when he was young, but always a lot of fun,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said Ian would be remembered as \u201cone of the great Master of Hounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ian was Master of the Beaufort Hunt for 34 years.<\/p>\n

In honor of its old master, the Beaufort Hunt wrote this on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt breaks our hearts to send our love and condolences to the family and friends of our own Captain Ian Farquhar,\u201d the hunt said. It was a pleasure to have him fly us for 34 years. He died peacefully this week.<\/p>\n

A lot of people who went hunting loved and respected him as \u201cCaptain.\u201d He was friendly, helpful, and always ready to give great, new ideas to anyone who asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was very funny, and anyone who was lucky enough to be with him and hear about his thrilling and different life in the army and as a hunter will always remember those times.\u201d\"\"<\/p>\n

Captain loved his family, dogs, and hounds. We know that up there, a whole pack of dogs will be waiting for him, eager to see him again.<\/p>\n
