Shannen Doherty has passed away at the age of 53 following a breast cancer diagnosis.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The actor \u2013 best known for her roles in 90210, Charmed\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Beverly Hills 90210\u00a0<\/em>\u2013 was first diagnosed with breast\u00a0cancer<\/a>\u00a0in 2015 and spoke openly about her journey with her\u00a0health<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier today (14 July), Doherty\u2019s publicist confirmed that she\u2019s since passed away.<\/p>\n

Shannen Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 (Gregg DeGuire\/FilmMagic)<\/cite><\/p>\n

In 2015, Doherty was diagnosed with \u2018invasive breast cancer metastatic to at least one lymph node\u2019.<\/p>\n

She underwent a single mastectomy, chemotherapy and other treatments and two years after the actor revealed she was in remission.<\/p>\n

However, in 2020, she was told by doctors her cancer had returned, diagnosed with stage four breast cancer.<\/p>\n

She carried on with treatment, sharing her journey along the way, but in 2023, she discovered her cancer had metastasized to her brain and spread to her bones.<\/p>\n

Later that year she underwent surgery which removed \u2018almost all\u2019 of the tumor from her brain and went on a new infusion plan in early 2024, but sadly she \u2018lost her battle with cancer\u2019 yesterday (13 July).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Doherty\u2019s publicist\u00a0told<\/a> People: \u201cIt is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease.\u201d<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s not taken long for fans of the actor to flood to social media<\/a> to pay their respects.<\/p>\n

Actor Eric West wrote: \u201cMy heart is broken. It was a pleasure to meet Shannen Doherty while filming our movie Fortess a little over two years ago! She was full of warm energy and positive vibes. So young. So talented. May she rest well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnother one of my childhood heroes gone. Shannen Doherty left us way too soon. Thanks for the ever iconic Brenda Walsh & Prue Halliwell,\u201d a Twitter\u00a0<\/a>user wrote.<\/p>\n

A third commented: \u201crip shannen doherty \ud83d\ude41 you will be very missed, thank you for playing such a monumental part in my childhood.\u201d<\/p>\n

And a fourth resolved: \u201cA day of mourning rn for the charmed stans Shannen Doherty you will always be a tv icon.\u201d<\/p>\n
