Kevin Costner\u2019s ambitious passion project\u00a0Horizon: An American Saga<\/em>\u00a0is not going as well as he hoped \u2014 and now Hollywood is changing course, canceling plans to release a sequel next month.<\/strong><\/div>\n

Costner has been intending to make his epic western\u00a0Horizon<\/em>\u00a0a four-part film series, with the first two parts hitting theaters this summer:\u00a0Chapter 1<\/em>\u00a0was released on June 28, and\u00a0Chapter 2<\/em> was scheduled for August 16.However, the first film has struggled to find an audience. In its opening week, the film came in third place at the box office with $11 million, a bad start given its $100 million budget \u2014 $38 million of which was\u00a0personally financed by Costner<\/a>.\"\"<\/p>\n

With Horizon<\/em>\u00a0flopping in theaters, the project\u2019s studios have reversed course, delaying\u00a0Chapter 2<\/em> from its planned August release date.According to the\u00a0Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Territory\u00a0Pictures\u00a0and New Line Cinema decided to delay the release to give audiences time to watch\u00a0Chapter 1<\/em> at home, on video-on-demand and on streaming.\u201cWe thank our exhibition partners for their continued support as moviegoers across the US discover the film in its theatrical run,\u201d a New Line spokesperson said, per the Hollywood Reporter. A new release date has not been set.Horizon: Chapter 1<\/em>\u00a0will be available to watch at home on premium VOD services starting on July 16. It will also be available on the streaming service Max at an unspecified date.<\/p>\n
