Television star Martin Mull, best known for his roles in hit comedy series Arrested Development<\/em>,\u00a0Roseanne<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Sabrina the Teenage Witch<\/em>, has died.<\/strong>Mull, whose career spanned decades and encompassed hundreds of credits in\u00a0television<\/a>, film, comedy, and\u00a0music<\/a>, died on Thursday (June 27) at the age of 80, his daughter said.It is understood he had been battling a mystery illness<\/a>\u00a0for an extended period.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/header>\n

His daughter, TV producer and writer Maggie Mull, confirmed the news on Saturday (June 29), describing her father as someone she loved ‘tremendously’.\u201cI am heartbroken to share that my father passed away at home on June 27th, after a valiant fight against a long illness,\u201d the former\u00a0Family Guy\u00a0<\/em>producer posted on\u00a0Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

1990s television fans will recognise him from Roseanne<\/em>, where he played the lead character\u2019s boss and best friend, Leon Carp.He also appeared on the critically acclaimed Fox sitcom\u00a0Arrested Development<\/em>, playing private detective Gene Parmesan alongside Jessica Walter, Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, and Michael Cera.His expansive career saw him rack up swathes of guest credits on many well-known television programmes, including\u00a0The Simpsons<\/em><\/a>, Family Guy, Two and a Half Men<\/em>, and more.He was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2016 for his four-episode appearance on\u00a0HBO<\/a>\u00a0political satire\u00a0Veep.<\/em>Tributes have begun pouring in for the seasoned actor and entertainer, with Melissa Joan Hart leading them.<\/p>\n

Hart, who played teen witch Sabrina Spellman in the late-1990s sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch<\/em>, shared a heartfelt tribute.The now 48-year-old actor posted an Instagram tribute to her blundering high school principal, Willard Kraft, and the man who played him for 73 episodes.\u201cRest in Peace, my friend. The incredible #MartinMull (Principal Kraft) has left us for his eternal rest,\u201d she wrote.\u201cI have such fond memories of working with him and being in awe of his huge body of work, which before #SabrinaTheTeenageWitch<\/em>\u00a0included #Roseanne<\/em>\u00a0and #MrMom<\/em>\u00a0as the projects I knew him from.\u201dThe former child star added that even after their time on\u00a0Sabrina The Teenage Witch,<\/em>\u00a0the two actors kept running into each other on numerous TV sets throughout the years.<\/p>\n

Melissa Joan Hart has paid a heartfelt tribute to her former co-star.
